Birth Network of Monterey County

The Birth Network of Monterey County (BNoMC) was formed in 2007 by a group of community members with a desire to help families in Monterey and South County learn about their options in birthing and early parenting. In 2015 it became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

We are the only 501(c)(3) non-profit pregnancy, birth, and postpartum resource in Monterey County. We are pleased to offer free educational events for parents and birth professionals.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to protect the birth experience by providing parents and their families with education, resources and advocacy.

Our Vision

We are dedicated to empowering birthing persons to honor and celebrate the birthing process. We envision a community where parents access resources to make informed choices for their birth and early parenting experiences.

Inclusivity Statement

At The Birth Network of Monterey County, we acknowledge that our previous emphasis on inclusivity may not have aligned with the standards we hold ourselves to today. We take full accountability for the gaps that existed in the voices and experiences we represented.

We also recognize the wider landscape of the healthcare system, which has historically lacked the inclusivity that every human deserves. Within the perinatal world, this absence has had extreme impacts on families, individuals, and providers alike.

As we begin this journey, we are committed to a thorough reevaluation—a process that seeks out and addresses weaknesses in our organization that do not align with our aspirations. Every person, regardless of their background or identity deserves support that is culturally congruent and empowering.

For our providers, we are committed to cultivating a community that encourages collaboration and learning. We are dedicated to uplifting providers from all walks of life, supporting their growth and development. We also hope to provide spaces to participate in open and honest conversations about systemic racism, acknowledging and dismantling implicit biases, and actionable steps we can take to reduce harm within our practices.

We acknowledge that achieving true diversity and inclusivity requires not only words, but also transformative actions. We are actively seeking feedback from our community, eager to refine our practices in alignment with our values of inclusivity, respect, and empathy. Together, we are striving to eliminate any barriers that stand in the way of progress.
